Firenze (In American Lingo: Florence)
So when new soldiers or officers and their families arrive on the base they are given the oppurtunity to take a class called "Benvenuti" which explains how things work there on the base and also in Italy. I was able to take the class and learn tons of stuff. We also got to visit downtown Pisa (my third time now:)) Livorno, and Florence. Florence was my fav by far. So much stuff to see and we didn't even go into the museums and stuff. Our personal tour guide (who is an Italian) was great! She told the history and stuff. It was cool.
This used to be the religious center of Florence. It has the main..and biggest cathedral. It was sooo pretty!! It had white and pink marble and the carvings in them! Hole mole! AWESOME. The duomo in the far back (the one with the reddish roof) was not so bad either. Haha. And it has the bell tower right next to the duomo was cool. Just ignore the girl standing in front of it all. Sheesh, blocking everything.
This is another cathedral in Florence. (Uh, cathedrals in Italy are like ward buildings in Utah, there's one around every corner). This one was also spectacular. Can't imagine what kind of effort and time went into these buildings. It boggles my mind! But I'm sure glad they did it cause I definitely enjoy seeing them all.
